If there’s one thing Tess loves in this world, it’s a microphone. If you love her AT the microphone, here are some of the ways that can happen for your newsroom, organization, or company.
“You are a plug-and-play host. Put you in that chair and you’re ready to go.”
– Steve Lickteig, Supervising Senior Producer, NPR’s Weekend All Things Considered
In addition to her 11 years as an anchor/host at Marketplace, Tess has stepped in to host programs for numerous national and local radio outlets, including NPR’s All Things Considered, America Abroad, KPCC’s Take Two, and KCRW’s To the Point and Which Way LA. She is a seasoned journalist, able to jump into any newsroom on a moment’s notice and provide the highest-quality hosting and interview skills. Work samples are available on the media page of this site. If you need a fill-in for a magazine or talk show, please get in touch through the contact page.
“Tess was the consummate professional! As both a speaker and emcee for Edison Talks, the pinnacle event of Chicago Ideas Week, she brought the day together with consistently high, positive energy, intelligent and thought provoking questions and commentary, and a true seamlessness to our program. She was thorough and well informed, flexible and willing to roll with punches, and a true delight to work with!”
– Brooke Scheyer, Director of Programming, Chicago Ideas Week
“Tess brings energy and passion to her role as a moderator and event host. She comes prepared with insightful and thought provoking questions balanced with quick wit and a lighthearted sense of humor. Tess was instrumental to the success of Mount St. Mary’s Report on the Status of Women and Girls in California event. We look forward to working with her again soon.”
– Stephanie Cubba, Vice President, Mount St. Mary’s College Los Angeles
If you’re looking for a dynamic stage presence for your conference, debate or panel discussion, Tess is available as a moderator, and as a host providing introductions and continuity throughout an event. She will also conduct interviews on stage with any of your guest speakers who would rather engage in a Q&A than give a speech. To inquire about rates and availability, visit the contact page of this website.
KEYNOTE AND OTHER SPEAKING
“Tess Vigeland can deliver the goods! If you’re fortunate enough to get her at your event, be sure to allow time for walks into the audience, extended ovations, and attendees who can’t stop talking about how helpful it was.”
– Chris Guillebeau, founder, World Domination Summit
Tess can speak about her experiences in public radio, including how programs are made, and her long tenure as a journalist covering national and international stories. She can also address her years in personal finance, which included the 2008 financial crisis. (She will not give financial advice, however.) Tess is writing a book about career transition, and is available to address related topics.
VOICEOVER AND FREELANCE
“During our 125th Anniversary year, the Tournament of Roses added an extra dimension to our digital parade program. Tess was an integral part of building this idea with her voiceover talent that took our program to the next level. She was detail-oriented with quick turn-around time and most importantly gave a smooth and entertaining voice to the thousands of participants who wanted to share their stories.”
– Heidi Hoff, Senior Director, Marketing & Communications, Pasadena Tournament of Roses
With a voice that’s recognizable to millions of American radio listeners, Tess is available as voiceover talent for your book, commercial, corporate video, and more. She most recently supplied hours’ worth of narration for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses 125th Rose Parade digital program guide.
Tess also provided voiceover talent for the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA.
In addition to voiceover, Tess is available as a freelance journalist in both print and broadcast media. She has written and reported for The New York Times. Samples are available on the “Media” page of this website.
